Where are they from?
The Rosy barb originates from streams and rivers of Northern India,Assam and Bengal. The young are a copper gold colour and the males when adult take on the red hues.

Ideal in groups of 5 or more.

Ideal water conditions are slightly acidic to neutral but this hardy fish will adapt to most water parameters.
What do you feed them?
They are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods. Feed a varied diet of frozen, freeze dried and flake foods.
How compatible is it with other fish?
This hardy peaceful barb is ideal for the novice fishkeeper, it mixes well with other barbs and fish of a similar size.
How do you breed them?
Adult fish are easy to sex, males have a deep red colour to them and the females are deep gold. females scatter the eggs over fine plants. remove adults after spawning as they will eat the eggs. Fry hatch out after 24-35 hours, feed on fine foods.
